Rumour at #dse2013 was that most, if not all of the Sony professional display group in North America were let go during the week.
After our initial post, we had a nice email from Sony’s PR folks who said “Sony Electronics remains committed to professional display and to our customers in that market. Sony is constantly evaluating its areas of operation, to focus on critical business markets for growth, and that includes display solutions”.
They continued “We have made some recent personnel changes in our professional display group, but Sony is still very active in display solutions, as shown by our presence at Digital Signage Expo 2013”.
We’d still add that whilst the (Sony) services companies are fine, we bet that their positioning is to leave the professional display business totally (but that is just our take, NOT what Sony are saying publicly).
