The announcements and rollouts from Sir Alan Sugar’s digital signage company, Amscreen are coming thick and fast and whilst we don’t like the look of most of their screens, their low-cost approach to the market means, by OUR ESTIMATES that these guys could have as many as 20,000 screens in the UK by the end of 2009.
The latest annnouncement made last week when everyone else, including ourselves, was distracted by ISE, is a trial deployment deal with Premier Inn, Beefeater and Taybarns, all of which are part of Whitbread PLC.
The deal will see Amscreen’s close proximity signage (basically wireless all-in-one screens including ‘player’) installed in hotels and restaurants across the Midlands.
Amscreen CEO Simon Sugar told us “We’re delighted to announce this deal with Premier Inn, Taybarns and Beefeater and believe our close proximity signage is the perfect vehicle to enable them to target existing customers. We look forward to extending the relationship with them beyond the initial period.”
The screens in Premier Inn will carry advertisements including cross promotions for adjoining Whitbread restaurants. In Beefeater and Taybarns they will be advertising various promotions, such as meal deals and food packages, along with encouraging people to stay at the neighbouring Premier Inn.
