It looks like VentureBeat was spot on when it reported back in March that Intel was in discussions to acquire Israeli based gesture computing outfit Omek Interactive.
“The acquisition of Omek Interactive will help increase Intel’s capabilities in the delivery of more immersive perceptual computing experiences” Intel said in a statement to VentureBeat yesterday.
Israeli news site Haaretz first reported the news.
Omek competitor PrimeSense, headquartered in Tel Aviv (a company we have touched on and mentioned briefly here), is reportedly seeking a buyer as well.
