In 2012, 100,000 flat panel screens were likely sold into the North American digital signage market. 2013 will see a similar volume.
Why is it then that Samsung bosses can forecast that 2013 – 2014 will see in NA a six fold increase to 600,000 units?
Samsung in North America have hired an additional 65 people in the last 6 – 12 months (yes sixty five) based on the assumption that they (Samsung) can increase the market by six (they’ve also hired every conceivable digital signage consultant in the industry as previously mentioned).
Even if they had 100% market share (impossible, of course), let us assure you that there is quite simply not enough business in our industry to warrant such projected growth.
Look out for the half yearly and annual reviews for all these new hires to see this all come crashing down around everyone involved.

Adrian:
Can you divulge the source who supplied the 100k NA shipment number for 2012 and supplied the forecast for 2013?
