ECNLive is a relatively new company in Europe but has already deployed digital screens in lobbies of 150 buildings (mainly in London) right now (and is expected to have 200 buildings by year-end), is already in Paris and is looking at further expansion into the rest of continental Europe as well.
The company reminds me very much of Captivate Network and the Wall Street Journal Office Network in the US who of course merged recently with the former acquiring the latter in April 2014.
“Some of the screens have no advertising and are used strictly for employee communication,” Stephen Gale, sales director and founding partner, told those attending The DailyDOOH Media Summit last week in London.
Gale told of the challenges he ran into with starting the network – considered a new media in a new environment to a new audience – including getting building owners to agree, and finding thin panels and players that wouldn’t stand out too far on the walls.
“Now we are getting them actually built into the walls, and people are using them to communicate to executives and staff in office buildings, offering real-time news, up-to-date content, weather, sports, building information, advertising and more,” he said.
IBM is seemingly ECNLive’s biggest, long-term client but what impressed us most was the roster of over 100 advertisers that use the network.
