UK Digital Beats Billboards!!!
Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief
Unlike in life (H2G2 = 42), I have always stated that the magic number for Digital OOH in the UK is 118,817 !!!
That’s the number of traditional 4 Sheets, 6 Sheets, 16 Sheets, 48 Sheets, 64 Sheets and 96 Sheets in the UK as published by Postar back in November 2006 (when we launched the first issue of DOOHAN actually).
Now, less than 1 year later we can proudly announce (AND should be shouting from the rooftops) that the number of UK Digital Screens that take 3rd party advertising is 121,841
July DOOHAN which I finished compiling late yesterday and is now available electronically shows: –
Networks 83
Screens 121,841
Venues 66,539
Monthly Footfall 349,454,784
Everything is up on the previous month except for the Monthly Footfall (previously 357,991,500) – you can blame McDonalds for that!
4 Sheets 6 Sheets 16 Sheets 48 Sheets 64 Sheets 96 Sheets

Intersting stats Adrian. Do you know how the revenue compares?

The OAA have a revenue figure for traditional out of home BUT unfortunately we in the digital community do not (yet). It’s an interesting point you raise and one the the industry needs to give thought to.
