¡Caramba! Neo Advertising+Dot One = Iberian Market
Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief
¡Caramba! It’s getting a bit boring saying “you heard it hear first” so we really must come up with another cliche, stop getting exclusives or stop figuring out what is going to happen next in the industry.
We did tell you that Neo Advertising was aggressively expanding – we thought Eastern Europe would be next followed by something in the UK but these guys instead have stretched their tentacles to Portugal (and as a result Spain also) – again though to a company, Dot One New Media that we have met and covered extensively in the past.
Neo can now lay claim to operations in most of the major European countries (and Canada) – Dot One operate from both Lisbon and Madrid. This deal is a major equity stake purchase rather than the 100% acquisition that was POSTV in the Netherlands and Dot One keeps its name in both Portugal and Spain.
By the way Dot One will be at Screen Expo on stand C09.
Geneva, Switzerland February 4th, 2008 – Swiss Neo Advertising today announced that it has bought a significant equity interest in Dot One, the leading digital signage company in the Iberian Peninsula.
Dot One is one of the most experienced digital signage company in the Iberian market with operations in Portugal and Spain. Dot One operates more than a 1’000 advertising screens all across Portugal and Spain comprising, petrol stations (Cepsa, Repsol), hypermarkets (Auchan), corporate offices (Novartis, Accenture,..), hospitals (Red Cross Hospital Lisbon,..), hotels, cinemas, shopping centres, Universities, golf clubhouses, travel agencies and an airline reaching a 100 million contacts a year.
“I am extremely motivated by this transaction as it gives Neo Advertising a leading position in a relatively untapped Iberian market. Combining Dot One local expertise with Neo Advertising international reach will undoubtedly be the winning formula to institutionalize digital signage in the Iberian Peninsula” declares Christian Vaglio-Giors, CEO of Neo Advertising. Adding “Welcoming Dot One in Neo Group is a great achievement in our continuous efforts to consolidate the European digital signage market”.
Antonio Galvão Lucas, founder and CEO of Dot One adds: “Dot one has developed over the last four years a dominant position in the Iberian digital signage market. By joining forces with Neo Advertising, Dot One will be able to even faster develop by beneficiating the scale of an international Group and strong international references”.
Dot One is kept as company name for both Portuguese and Spanish markets, benefiting thus from a strong and established brand name. Portuguese operations will be headed by actual CEO Antonio Galvão Lucas, whereas Spanish operations will be in hand of Carlos Bages actual CEO of Neo Advertising Spain.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
