Construction of eight brand new free-standing digital advertising units has been completed in the London Borough of Camden, further expanding the reach of Clear Channel’s leading Adshel Live network.

IBM Brings #AI To The Marketing And Media Industry

IBM (NYSE: IBM) this week announced three new products to add to its growing suite of #AI solutions for brands and publishers. The new capabilities are privacy-forward and designed to allow brands to reach consumers while considering user privacy. IBM intends to work with industry leaders, including Xandr/AT&T, Magnite, Nielsen, MediaMath, LiveRamp and Beeswax to help scale the use of #AI across the industry.

Simplicity Esports Acquires Franchisee Owned Gaming Center

Simplicity Esports and Gaming Company (OTCQB:WINR) announced Monday that it had signed a definitive agreement with one of its franchisees to acquire all of the assets of its esports gaming centre including furniture, fixtures, equipment, inventory, and customer list.

The franchisee owned gaming center in St. Petersburg, FL was first opened under the PLAYlive Nation brand on May 12, 2017. The full consideration for the acquisition is 29,504 shares of restricted Simplicity Esports common stock.

Roman Franklin, President of Simplicity Esports, told us “This is our second acquisition in the last week and we expect to continue executing our strategy of acquiring franchisee owned locations while simultaneously signing new or amended leases with significantly improved terms. Our renegotiated lease agreement with this landlord requires us to pay rent as a percentage of gross sales along with a small fixed payment for taxes and maintenance. St. Petersburg becomes the sixth corporate owned gaming center in our growing nationwide footprint.”

He added “The city of St. Petersburg is home to over 265,000 residents, of which over 66,000 are under the age of 24. We believe there is a tremendous opportunity in the local market to expand the reach of our gaming center. The current staff will remain in their roles as we move to grow Simplicity Esports’ customer base in the area.”

Simplicity Esports’ acquisition of franchisee owned esports gaming centers allows Simplicity Esports to report the full revenues generated by the gaming centers on a conslidated basis. Previously, Simplicity Esports only reported the franchise royalty fee, calculated as 6% of gross sales, paid by franchisees.

New Zealand Based LENS Outdoor Launches Today

New Zealand-based LENS Outdoor (LENS) launched Monday with plans to revolutionise audience measurement in the Out-Of-Home Advertising sector with, what they call, the launch of the most sophisticated platform in the industry.

In a move to drive a new industry standard, the platform which is known as LENS, will initially be rolled out by LUMO Digital Outdoor, with discussions currently underway with several Australian and UK-based media operators.

Robin Arnold, LENS’ Chief Technology Officer told us “The industry as a whole is waking up to the fact that historical ways of audience measurement for out-of-home is simply not up to scratch, lacking both the accuracy and transparency that advertisers are now demanding. It’s great to have several foundation partners onboarding LENS and we’re excited to develop the product alongside our clients.”

Ruud (Rudiger) Wanck has joined Candid as its CEO. Candid is the largest independent marketing and advertising platform in the Netherlands. Headed by Ruud Wanck,

The press release state that the former Global CEO of GroupM Connect, will build a new organisational structure in order for the business to expand both nationally and internationally.

CEO and founder Gérard Ghazarian will be leading the new board of directors. In his position as president, he will focus on Candid’s merger and acquisition strategy (M&A).

Candid is growing rapidly which is a result of several acquisitions such as media agencies Stroom and M2Media. In 2018, Candid acquired the Digital Agency Group including digital media, data and advertising agencies like Online Company, Havana Harbour and 6Circles.

Wanck (stop giggling) has held several global leadership positions at GroupM, working from Amsterdam, London and New York.

GM’s Mary Barra Joins #CES2021 Keynote Lineup

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has announced that General Motors Chairman and CEO Mary Barra will present the opening keynote address during the all-digital #CES2021.

Her keynote will look at GM’s transformational strategy to advance mobility for communities around the world. Laying the foundation for an all-electric future is just the beginning.

She began her career with GM in 1980 as a co-op student at the Pontiac Motor Division and has since held various roles within the company, including executive vice president of Global Product Development, Purchasing & Supply Chain, vice president of Global Human Resources, and vice president of Global Manufacturing Engineering. This will be the third time GM has keynoted at CES, following appearances at CES 2008 and CES 2016.

She joins recently confirmed Verizon Chairman and CEO Hans Vestberg and AMD President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su as a speaker. The CES keynote schedule will be updated regularly as keynote speakers are announced.
