Formula E Broadcast Deal @OceanOutdoorUK @DS_Official

April 15th, 2019

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

DS Automobiles has been announced as the brand partner for premium outdoor media owner Ocean Outdoor’s exclusive coverage of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. In a multi-screen outdoor and TV broadcast deal brokered by Mediacom and the Infinitum Entertainment Group, DS Automobiles becomes the commercial sponsor of Ocean’s race coverage for the season that concludes with a double-header finale in New York.

Infinitum director Ago Di Falco told us “It’s an innovative marketing partnership bringing together DS, Mediacom, Formula E and many other parties, resulting in an integrated campaign that hangs together across many platforms.”

Coverage on 14 Ocean screens in nine UK cities continued this weekend with spectacular coverage of the first European race which took place in the streets of Rome on Saturday (April 13).

Ocean head of content and sponsorship Kevin Henry said “This is the first time Ocean has been integrated in an all-screen broadcast sponsorship deal. It will see up-to-the-minute highlights of the next seven races, unfolding across Ocean screens in England and Scotland, and exclusively branded by DS Automobiles.”

Eleven teams and 22 drivers are competing in the 2019, Formula E Season 5.

Last November, Ocean became an official media partner of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, in an exclusive out of home partnership.

DS Automobiles participates in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship as DS Techeetah, racing the DS E-TENSE FE19. The team won the 2017/2018 Drivers’ Championship title with Jean-Éric Vergne and together with André Lotterer, the team secured second place in the Teams’ Championship in the 2017/2018 season of Formula E.

The other teams competing in Formula E are Audi Sport, Envision/Virgin Racing, Dragon, Panasonic Jaguar Racing, Mahindra Racing, BMW Andretti, Nio, HWA, Nissan and Venturi.

Mark Blundell, UK marketing director at DS Automobiles, said “We’re proud of our long-standing involvement in Formula E where we joined in season 2 as the first premium brand involved. Since then, we’ve enjoyed regular successes and been an annual podium-finisher in this exciting city-located sport. Our involvement has accelerated the development of our electrified road cars, that we also brand E-TENSE. With all models in our new range offering electrified versions in 2019, DS is superbly positioned to bring its savoir faire and advanced technology on track to benefit the performance of our customers.”

The Formula E circuit moves to Paris on April 27, then Monaco (May 11), Berlin (May 25) and Bern (June 22), ending with a dramatic double race finale in New York on July 13 and 14 when the all-important championship title will be decided.

London returns to the Formula E calendar as a host city in summer 2020 when the E-Prix takes place around the Royal Docks and ExCel London.

Ocean Digital Creative Grand Prix Winner of the Decade

April 15th, 2019

Russ Curry, Ministry of New Media

For a decade the Ocean Digital Creative Competition has inspired creative thinking in Digital Out of Home.

What started off at Westfield, London (the first ever award ceremony, shown here on the left) with a handful of judges (our editor in chief Adrian Cotterill has been the ONLY judge to have served on the jury every single year), with an invited audience of several dozen and as UK only, has grown into a must-enter, must-attend, internatonal creative competition, absolutely like no-other.

Over the last few years, each October, the award ceremony has garnered almost 500 industry insiders, filling London’s IMAX pretty much close to capacity.

The competition, the brain child of Ocean Group CEO Tim Bleakley and team, trying back then, to compete and better all the big boys in our industry has brought to life ideas that have gone on to win multiple global awards, including coveted Cannes Lions success on several occasions. Many of the entries, and all of the finalists and winners have seriously benchmarked the positive changes seen in the world’s fastest growing, multifaceted screen advertising platform and in the majority of cases, allowing our industry to redefine human engagement.

With almost ten years in the bag, Ocean Group are now asking for your input on “which creative idea has been the most influential across the last decade?”

Canadian Franchise Association Recognises @FASTSIGNS

April 12th, 2019

Tristan Cotterill

FASTSIGNS International, Inc., franchisor of FASTSIGNS®, the leading sign, graphics and visual communications franchise, announced this week that it has been recognized by the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) as a silver recipient of the 2019 Franchisees’ Choice Designation.

FASTSIGNS has been recognized by the CFA for the seventh consecutive year for its strong relationship with Canadian franchisees, as well as extensive franchisee support and training.

Mark Jameson, EVP of Franchise Support and Development, FASTSIGNS International, Inc. told us “We pride ourselves on our high level of franchisee satisfaction in every country we operate in around the world and are honored to be recognized once again by the Canadian Franchise Association for this prestigious designation. Systemwide, we have the highest support ratio the best of any sign and graphics franchise. As we continue to grow throughout Canada, we’ll continue to allocate a significant amount of resources to ensuring our franchisees — both existing and new — have access to top-notch training and support, and we’ll continue to nurture our strong franchisor-franchisee relationship that is so crucial to FASTSIGNS’ success.”

The Franchisees’ Choice designees are CFA member franchise systems who voluntarily took part in an independently-administered survey. Franchisees were asked to assess their franchisor in key areas of the franchise business model, including the franchisee selection process; franchisee information package; leadership; business planning and marketing; training and support; ongoing operations; and the relationship between the franchisor and franchisee.

Sheraton Dallas Combines Technology and Art for Upgraded Visitor Experience

April 10th, 2019

Andrew Neale

Marriott International has unveiled a host of modern upgrades to its Sheraton Dallas property, including two state-of-the-art digital video columns at the hotel’s entrance. The custom-engineered, four sided LED columns were manufactured by SNA Displays and feature an eye-catching modern digital art piece.

The digital displays and art installation were part of a multi-million-dollar renovation to the historic downtown Dallas hotel, a major refresh managed by The Chartres Lodging Group.

Other upgrades by the San Francisco hotel investment and advisory firm include improved meeting and event spaces, enhanced and rebranded food and beverage services, and redesigns for most of the hotel’s bathrooms, hallways and guest rooms.

Maki Nakamura Bara, co-founder and president of The Chartres Lodging Group told us “The digital columns are a fantastic way to showcase the hotel’s overall design theme of celebrating art, since we are at the intersection of the art district and Deep Ellum. And to add movement, perspective, and technology just takes the theme to another level!”
