Ultrahaptics Joins @DPAAorg

DPAA, the leading global organization for everything digital out-of-home, announced today that Ultrahaptics has joined its membership ranks.

Ultrahaptics creates tactile sensations in mid-air. No controllers or wearables are needed: the company’s patented “virtual touch” technology uses ultrasound to project sensations and shapes directly onto the user’s hands. Controls can be operated without touching a surface, gestures can be enhanced with tactile feedback, and users can interact in a natural way with virtual objects.

Barry Frey, DPAA President & CEO, told us “The haptics market is going to be enormous, projected to be a $19 billion business by 2025 according to a new market research report on Reports Monitor titled, ‘Haptics Market’. Ultrahaptics is at the forefront of this growth and is positioned to add an entirely new, exciting and powerful dimension to digital out-of-home.”

Ultrahaptics, with offices in the UK, US and Germany, was founded in 2013 and is currently engaged with blue-chip clients from multiple markets including automotive, digital signage and location-based entertainment.

The term ‘haptics’ refers to the use of technology that stimulates the senses of touch and motion, especially to reproduce in remote operation or computer simulation the sensations that would be felt by a user interacting directly with physical objects.

Oblong and Cisco to Bridge the Aisle at #ISE2019

Oblong Industries, Inc., maker of multi-stream meeting applications and pioneer of interactive spatial computing environments for the new era of collaborative work, is pleased to announce a first-ever initiative for its fifth year at #ISE2019. In coordination with Cisco, Oblong will show how organizations can improve workflows for distributed teams with a product demonstration that spans the aisle of Hall 11.

In this unique demonstration, a Mezzanine 200 Series system for multi-stream collaboration in Oblong stand 11-B140 will connect in a Webex Teams session, demonstrating interoperability with Cisco Webex endpoints, with Cisco in stand 11-C130. In addition, a Cisco Webex Board will be featured in the Oblong stand to show the ease of bringing a popular touch screen for ideation and collaboration into the Mezzanine meeting environment. Due to the proximity of these two stands, visitors to Hall 11 will be able to witness both ends of the meeting session from a single vantage point.

UK Advertising Delivers 21st Consecutive Quarter of Growth

UK adspend rose 5.1% year-on-year to reach £5.6bn in Q3 2018, marking the 21st consecutive quarter of market growth and the industry’s strongest third quarter of the year since 2015. This record investment highlighted in today’s Advertising Association/WARC Expenditure Report underpins the preliminary estimate for 2018 adspend of £23.5bn – meaning the industry will have grown +6.0% year-on-year.

The positive figures come ahead of the Advertising Association’s LEAD summit on Wednesday (January 30th), which will look at the key themes of Trust, Trade & Transformation in the UK’s advertising industry. Predictions of 4.6% growth for UK advertising in 2019 come amid calls from the industry for a positive deal for business from Brexit negotiations with minimal disruption.

Tastes Like: The Aussie Open w/ Vegemite & @QMS_Media

As the official partner of the 2019 Australian Open ‘ballkids’, Vegemite unveiled a cheeky dynamic outdoor campaign on QMS Media’s iconic Richmond digital billboard, aka ‘The Punt’.

Steve Bovey, General Manager of Operations at QMS told us “The dynamic digital technology behind this campaign ensures immediate relevance and strong brand alignment for Vegemite. With Thinkerbell having the ability to update and schedule creative instantly, Vegemite is able to relate to tennis-goers in a fun and unique way via our iconic ‘The Punt’, just a stone’s throw away from all the action at Melbourne Park.”

In collaboration with creative agency Thinkerbell, the quintessentially Australian brand placed a tongue-in-cheek tennis-related twist on their celebrated ‘Tastes Like Australia’ campaign. Over the Australian Open period, Melbournians and tennis fans got a taste of what it meant to be, a part of summer’s most anticipated sporting event through a series of contextually relevant creative executions.

Jim Ingram, Founder & Chief Creative Officer at Thinkerbell said “Being able to write, and then execute in real time has been an absolute blast. The agency has had a lot of fun with this submitting their ideas for the site, based on what they see happening and it’s been a great experience for the whole team. It’s also great to see a broadcast, high reach medium such as outdoor being so reactive and dynamic.”

Thinkerbell had complete creative control of content displayed by Vegemite, using witty copy and classic colloquialisms to respond to the events of the Australian Open as it unfolded.

Barco have released two new enterprise products: a dedicated huddle proposition and a 4K collaboration solution, the ClickShare CS-100 Huddle and the ClickShare CSE-200+ respectively.

The press release stated that Barco ClickShare now has a complete offering of intuitive, IT-friendly collaborative experiences for every meeting room in the enterprise—shifting its focus from wireless presentation to interactive meeting collaboration.

  • The ClickShare CS-100 Huddle is designed for huddle and small meeting spaces. It brings spontaneous, ad-hoc and swift content-sharing—ideal for short catch-ups or instant brainstorming with a limited group of employees. Gauthier Renard, Product Manager, said “ClickShare now brings the exact same experience for every type of meeting room in the contemporary office environment: from a huddle space to a regular meeting room, from a collaboration room to a fully equipped large meeting room, such as a boardroom or conference room. Different meeting room sizes or types in both traditional industries and new businesses can all be given the same intuitive and uniform collaborative experience.”
  • With the ClickShare CSE-200+, new ways of meeting can be introduced in the current workplace. Brainstorming or more creative discussions are enabled by a wide set of features: annotation, blackboarding, touch back and 4K support with every type of device. The integrated HD switch in the CSE-200+ model takes away the stress and hassle of having to switch manually between wired legacy sources (such as cameras) and the ClickShare wirelessly presented content.
