Rubén Valverde Joins Worldcom OOH

Rubén Valverde has joined Worldcom OOH Europe where he will be responsible for leading the Operations teams in the European territory, as well as strengthening and developing relationships with partners, agencies, and outdoor and digital advertising companies in the region.

Rubén has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, communication, and institutional relations. He recently held the position of Head of Marketing & Strategy at Japan Tobacco International Iberia and spent a significant part of his career at Siemens, where he worked for 11 years, reaching the position of Global Head of Marketing & Strategy at Siemens Gamesa.

Bronwyn Clementson Promoted at JCDecaux Australia

JCDecaux Australia has appointed Bronwyn Clementson to the newly created role of Executive General Manager – Commercial. She will join the company’s nine-strong executive leadership team effective from 1 February 2024.

Steve O’Connor, CEO JCDecaux Australia and New Zealand said: “With 14 years of dedicated service at JCDecaux and APN Outdoor (APNO), Bronwyn Clementson’s rich history, diverse experience and strong partner relationships make her the perfect choice to step into this executive leadership role. With expertise in digital developments and delivering strong commercial outcomes across airport and transport contracts, experience managing contracts through global disruptions such as the GFC and COVID, and strong relationships with all our major commercial partners, Bronwyn is ideally placed to lead the commercial arm of our business.”

Bronwyn has extensive commercial experience in Out-of-Home media, having started as a Commercial Executive at APNO then becoming Digital and Strategic Director. In 2019, Bronwyn became JCDecaux’s Group Commercial Director managing the NSW and Airport contracts, before being promoted, in 2021, to General Manager – Commercial, responsible for leading commercial tenders, commercial partnerships and delivering quality media solutions.

Bronwyn has established herself as a key figure in maintaining strong relationships with contract partners and authorities. She has consistently delivered commercial outcomes and revenue commitments.

The news comes after Chief Operating Officer Andrew Hines announced his decision to step down after an illustrious 30-year tenure at JCDecaux and APNO. Andrew is a stalwart of the business and will remain with JCDecaux during the transition period until 30 April 2024.

On Andrew’s departure, Steve O’Connor said: “I want to give my sincere thanks to Andrew for his incredible work. He has had a stellar 30-year career in Out-of-Home, working with JCDecaux and previously APNO. Andy played a leading role in the creation of APNO in 2004 and its integration with JCDecaux when we acquired the business in 2018. He has consistently helped to drive commercial success for our business, building strong and cohesive Commercial and Operations teams along the way. There are too many achievements to name, but I wish him all the best for his year off and whatever comes next.”

Chris Freel Joins oOh!media

oOh!media has appointed UnLtd CEO Chris Freel to the newly created position of group sales director – Australia as part of a sales consolidation that brings agency, direct, boutique and independent (DBI) teams under single leadership.

We are told that the unified structure strengthens oOh!’s cross-functional sales approach, driving greater collaboration and accountability, and providing an aligned approach to sales strategy and business planning.

Reporting to Paul Sigaloff, chief revenue and growth officer, Chris will lead the combined team when he joins oOh! on February 12, 2024.

Paul told us “As we continue to lead the Out of Home industry towards a digital first future, uniting our agency and DBI sales teams will strengthen our proposition in the market. This will streamline our operations and ensure that we continue to deliver an optimal experience for advertising and agency partners, enabling them to leverage oOh!’s national network to make brands unmissable.”

Chris joins oOh! after more than six years as CEO of social purpose organisation UnLtd which connects the media, marketing and creative industries with charities helping children and young people at risk. Prior to that, he gained extensive digital media sales leadership experience having worked at Fairfax Media as national agency sales director and commercial director of Pandora.

Tim Elder, head of sales – DBI, continues in his role and will also work on special projects within the revenue and growth team. Wade James who was previously in the role of national head of agency sales, is moving on from oOh! to pursue other opportunities.

Pricing for Professional TVs Buck Overall Trend

PMA Research (PMA) have published their latest sell-through tracking reports on large-format (32-inch and larger) flat panel displays being sold by leading North American Pro AV dealers, and systems integrators who typically serve commercial markets.

While unit sales of large flat panel displays through the Pro AV channel fell in December, revenues grew. One contributing factor was the price stabilization for Professional televisions. Prices for this segment rose in December, particularly for the most popular 65-inch, 55-inch and 43-inch models.

While this segment saw double-digit price declines from June 2022 through June 2023, prices were stable and even rose slightly in the second half of 2023, including the month of December.

The Shoppable TV Report: 2024 and Beyond uncovers U.S. consumer perceptions around ‘shoppable’ TV advertisements, such as scannable QR-enhanced ads, as well as subsequent purchasing behavior after seeing TV ads.

Some of the key takeaways include: –

  • FAST apps are becoming a norm. 78% of CTV users regularly use FAST apps, and 59% prefer FAST over paid streaming services, making FAST a critical part of every media plan.
  • Shoppable TV is manifesting into reality. 66% of CTV users recall seeing an ad with a QR code in the past three months.
  • CTV users like shoppable TV ads. 70% like TV ads with QR codes, and 62% would scan if exposed, making QR codes a must-have for any upcoming TV ad creative./li>
  • Relevance converts to action with shoppable TV ads. Relevance is the main impetus behind scanning or purchasing after seeing a TV ad, highlighting the need for accurate audience targeting.

Midwich Group plc, used #ISE2024 to launch Midwich Ignite, the Group’s new corporate venture capital arm, which will invest in, and support, entrepreneurs to propel innovation within the industry.

Focusing on investments in high-growth start-ups and scale-ups within AV and the wider technology ecosystem globally, Midwich Ignite will operate as a standalone enterprise and will utilise the Group’s connections and expertise garnered over 45 years.

Fyllo|Semasio’s Contextual Advertising Vision

Fyllo|Semasio, a provider of contextual targeting solutions, has announced that the company has begun migrating its entire portfolio of audience taxonomy data into privacy-compliant contextual segments via its Semasio targeting platform (advertisers can use this to drive performance in a post-cookie environment). Ee are told that the transition is currently underway and should be fully complete in Q1 2024.

With the transition, Fyllo laid out its vision of Semasio and contextual advertising as the future of privacy-compliant performance while reengineering how the company does business. The new contextual audiences will be available through Semasio across all major distribution platforms, including The Trade Desk, Adform and Infillion.
